First Listen: Preview The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree

by Sh-K-Boom Records on 4/14/2013 to News
THE JOE ICONIS ROCK AND ROLL JAMBOREE will be here in just two days on April 16, 2103 and we can't wait to share it with you!

The new album is a collection of songs performed by Joe Iconis and his merry band of musical theater misfits. Epic theater ballads, simple folk songs, heavy rock rave-ups and bar room sing-alongs coexist in this eclectic, borderline-insane line up of tunes.

Listen to an exclusive preview of 8 tracks from the album on Soundcloud and be sure to share it if you like what you hear:

Featuring new interpretations of Iconis classics (“Headshot,” “Bar Song”) as well as many songs appearing on record for the first time ever (“Goodbye Song,” “Lonely Woman”), THE JOE ICONIS ROCK AND ROLL JAMBOREE plays like the schizophrenic jukebox located in the back room of the seediest theater bar that ever existed. The album features two songs heard on the second season of NBC-TV’s “Smash”: “Broadway, Here I Come!” – performed on TV by Jeremy Jordan – and “The Goodbye Song,” which will air later this spring.

In addition to Mr. Iconis, featured vocalists on the CD include Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Molly Hager, Matt Hinkley, Ian Kagey, Eric William Morris, Krysta Rodriguez, Lance Rubin, Jason SweetTooth Williams and the Kissin’ Kazoo Sisters. The album was produced by Brent Stranathan with additional production by Ian Kagey.

“The arrangements are all based on ones we’ve been playing live for years,” says Iconis. “But they are adapted for this album. Showy and huge, we were more interested in capturing the spirit of the live show than we were in trying to recreate it.”

Kurt Deutsch – President of Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight – commented, “If Joe Iconis owned the bar ‘Cheers,’ there would be a line around the block with people wanting to be part of his circle. He breeds a sense of commitment and community in his work, not only because he is a tireless and original artist who inspires passion, humor, and a twisted perspective of everyday life but also because his is a fiercely loyal friend. We are honored to support Joe and his family with a home at the label.”

Joe Iconis and Family will celebrate the release with four shows at the New York nightclub 54 Below on Monday April 15 at 7:00 PM; Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 PM; Friday, April 26 at 11:00 PM; and Sunday, May 5 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $25. 54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street. The album will be available for sale at all of the shows and tickets are available at (866) 468-7619 or at www.54Below.com.
