Sherie Rene Scott's 'Piece of Meat' Will Be Recorded, Plus New Digital Single Released with Bill Charlap

by Sh-K-Boom Records on 6/21/2013 to News
We've just released a very special digital single version of "The Folks Who Live on the Hill" - the classic 1937 pop standard with music by Jerome Kern and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II - featuring Sh-K-Boom co-founder Sherie Rene Scott and acclaimed pianist Bill Charlap.

The "B-side" is "Nothing Is Too Wonderful To Be True," by Scott and Charlap, which previously appeared as a bonus track on our Grammy-nominated Broadway recording of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, starring Ms. Scott. Both tracks were produced by Kurt Deutsch and Joel Moss.

In addition, we're so happy to announce that we will be recording "Piece Of Meat," her current show at 54 Below, which is running through June 29. We will announce further details of the recording at a later date. To sign up for updates on the album, please visit:

The New York Times raved about this "very serious, very funny, very personal show." It was called "One of the year's very best" by Time Out New York and praised for its "passion, wit and sincerity" by The Village Voice. "Piece Of Meat" is an exhilarating evening about human desires - carnal, culinary and otherwise. Ms. Scott explores her singular storytelling and musical abilities with songs by Joni Mitchell, Paul McCartney, Talking Heads, Pete Townshend, Annie Lennox, Dire Straits, Buddy Holly, Kate Bush and Noah and The Whale, along with original compositions by music director Todd Almond. The show features musical staging by Michele Lynch and direction by Lear deBessonett.
