Adam was born in the Bronx, and at the age of 10 moved to Syosset Long Island. At around 12 years of age, Adam discovered his passion for music, and soon after realized he had a natural ability to sing. He went on to form a band with friends, and it soon consumed his life. His ambition was to become a "Rock Star", like his idols at the time: bands like Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, and The Beatles, and artists such as Billy Joel and Elton John. These dreams took him through high school and college.

But years of struggle finally took their toll in September of 1995, when at 25, Adam left his band of 10 years to pursue other avenues of music. In late November of that same year. Adam got a call from a friend, who had heard about an off-Broadway musical called Rent, and wondered if he'd be interested in auditioning. Having never auditioned for anything before, Adam thought it would be fun to see what it was like.

Adam got the role of Roger. The show went on to become the biggest success on Broadway in a decade. Adam received numerous awards for his performance, including an Obie and Theater World Award. He also received a nomination for the 1996 Tony Award, and Drama Desk award.

After leaving Rent on Broadway, Adam was in the Sony Classics release SLC Punk. He then went on to reprise his role as Roger in the London production of Rent. Adam is currently starring opposite Sherie Scott and Heather Headley in Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. Aida is having a brief run in Chicago, and is set to open on Broadway on March 23rd, 2000.

Adam has not given up on his own musical aspirations. He is currently writing songs for a solo album, due out in the spring of 2000.
