OVER 74 MINUTES OF MUSIC, including special bonus track featuring Michel Legrand performing "AN ORDINARY GUY!"

Set in Paris in the 1950s, AMOUR is the story of a minor civil servant who finds his life transformed by a magical ability to walk through walls. His liberating discovery provides a new outlook on life and leads him into the arms of a beautiful young woman.

Five-time Grammy® and three-time Oscar® winner MICHEL LEGRAND has composed some of the greatest songs ever recorded. Papa, Can You Hear Me? (Yentl), The Summer Knows (Summer of '42), I Will Wait For You (The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg), The Windmills of Your Mind (The Thomas Crown Affair) and What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life? He now brings his talents to this new original Broadway recording!

Based on the popular French story, Le Passe-Muraille by MARCEL AYMÉ (Les Editions Gallimard), AMOUR features a libretto by DIDIER VAN CAUWELAERT and an English adaptation by JEREMY SAMS. Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize winner JAMES LAPINE (Into The Woods, Sunday in the Park with George) directs a remarkable young cast led by MALCOLM GETS of NBC-TV's "Caroline in the City" and MELISSA ERRICO of My Fair Lady and Encores.

Amour opened on Broadway on October 20, 2002, at the Music Box Theatre and closed after only thirty-one previews and seventeen performances. Six months later on a snowy April day, Michel Legrand, James Lapine, Todd Ellison and the original company -nine actors and five musicians-reunited to make this recording. And something magical happened. Virtually no rehearsal was needed. Everyone continued their journey through the music with a wonderful spirit of re-discovery of their character and their songs. The joy of performing together, the love of musical theatre in general and this show in particular filled the recording studio. It was a gift for us to experience this and a privilege to have preserved it for years to come. -Kurt Deutsch
